Refreshed, renewed, creative and generative

How do we contribute to a healthy future for anthroposophy in the world?

a recorded presentation by Marjatta van Boeschoten with conversation

The next Studio event will be on 7th September, followed by a related event on 5th October, both sessions featuring contributions from Marjatta van Boeschoten, General Secretary of the Anthroposophical Society in Great Britain, London, UK.

On 7 September, we will watch parts of a recorded presentation Marjatta gave to the Sydney branch earlier in the year. In this talk, she describes her research on Steiner’s wishes for the anthroposophical movement in the last years of his life, and how this inspired the transformation of Rudolf Steiner House in London.

We will ponder her thoughts to allow conversation about what is needed in our own lives, both at a personal level, and in our local context for renewal, refreshment and creativity out of anthroposophy. From these conversations, we will gather questions and topics for Marjatta’s presentation in October. Bring your questions, frustrations, delights and challenges about the movement and its place in your life and in the world, to contribute to a conversation.

In the following Something else studio session on 5 October, we will welcome Marjatta again, this time directly via video conferencing, to talk more about her own life and experience. We will also invite her to respond to the questions and suggested themes that we gathered in our September session.

You are welcome to come along to either or both of these sessions and participate in the conversation and presentation about this important topic.

Marjatta was a Steiner Waldorf pupil and after graduating from law, practiced as a lawyer for seven years. After having two children, she started a new career as a management development consultant based on the social development impulse of Bernard Lievegoed. She founded a consultancy working predominantly with large national and international companies, UK government departments, and the IAEA at the United Nations in Vienna. Marjatta was on the Board of Triodos Bank NL and part of the Goetheanum Meditation Initiative and is now the General Secretary of the Anthroposophical Society in Great Britain and a member of the Extended Executive Board at the Goetheanum.
Marjatta says, “Inner development and anthroposophical meditation have become essential sources of nourishment to sustain me in a very active, world-orientated life. Along the way I have been fortunate to work with Arthur Zajonc and others whose insights have helped and encouraged me to work with the challenges of developing an inner path. I now hold talks and workshops to explore the joys and challenges of inner work and describe ways to deepen and sustain individual practice.
For many years I worked with leaders to help them develop their capacities and skills and am convinced of the central importance of an inner practice to develop wakefulness, poise and vision that can lead to beneficial and inspired action.”
